Dear Friends:
Since its establishment by the U.S. Congress in 1991, the Israeli-Arab
Scholarship Program (IASP) has provided unique opportunities for Arab
citizens of Israel to come to the United States to pursue graduate
education and engage in cultural exchange. The men and women who have
received these prestigious scholarships have proven themselves to be
outstanding individuals who make important contributions and provide
leadership to their communities, country and region. It is my pleasure to
join with them, and with you, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of this
program.
In the last ten years, IASP has brought more than 40 exceptional Arab
citizens of Israel to the United States for graduate studies. The
program’s grantees have studied a wide range of disciplines - from
economics to theology and from law to music - while experiencing the rich
and diverse culture of the United States. As citizen-ambassadors to the
United States, IASP grantees contribute to strengthened mutual
understanding and respect, hallmarks of IASP, and the cornerstones for
long-term cooperation and friendship.
It is through the exploration of intellectual and cultural horizons
that people overcome barriers, enjoy greater understanding, and may
contribute more fruitfully to their community, the world, and the future.
Since 1991 the Israeli-Arab Scholarship Program has successfully achieved
these important goals. I wish for the program, and all of its alumni,
continuing success.
Congratulations! |
