Document Return Policy

The American Embassy - Tel Aviv no longer returns documents (Consular Reports of Birth and/or Passports) by mail at U.S. Government expense.

Instead, applicants are expected to pick up their documents in person or have the documents returned by mail either by:

(a) providing a self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of the completed documents or

(b) using the courier service envelope available in American Citizen Services.

Documents will be returned as soon as they are ready.

In the case of U.S. passports which are produced in the United States, the turnaround time can be as long as three weeks to a month or even longer in high demand periods. Applicants who have travel plans, should apply for a new passport at least two months prior to their planned departure date to allow enough time for the passport to be produced and returned to them.

Applicants should provide an envelope large enough for the document(s) requested with sufficient postage to return it/them by registered mail.

Alternatively, we offer Moniot Aviv courier envelopes. This service costs NIS 45.00 payable on delivery to any address in Israel. Moniot Aviv guarantees delivery.

It is no longer possible to return to the Embassy to pick-up your documents.
