Israel’s 2012 Women in Science Hall of Fame inductee
ESTH Office is pleased to announce Israel’s 2012 Women in Science Hall of Fame inductee, Amal Ayoub. As part of her award, Dr. Ayoub received a certificate from Ambassador Shapiro at an event in Nazareth on December 22nd. Professor Kotler and Harris’s research focuses on understanding how the HIV virus protects itself
The United States Government through the Department of Health and Human Services’ National Institutes of Health is funding joint research between Reuben Harris’s lab of the University of Minnesota and Moshe Kotler’s of Hebrew University Ein Kerem. Professor Kotler and Harris’s research focuses on understanding how the HIV virus protects itself from drugs designed to decrease the infectiousness of the virus. The research team receives $164,700 each year as they strive to develop better treatment of a disease which, according to the World Health Organization, affects an estimated 1.2 million people in the U.S. and 7500 in Israel..

Inauguration of Nobel Energy Science Park, Madatech, Haifa, Oct 27

The ESTH office attended the 11th annual Ford Environmental and Conservation Awards ceremony.
Partnered with the SHELI Fund, and Delek Motors, Ford awarded 20 projects a total of $100,000 dollars with the charge to increase sustainable living in Israel.

October 21st, 2010 - Rieger Graduate Fellowship Awards for Environmental Studies
The ESTH Office attended the annual Rieger Graduate Fellowship Awards for Environmental Studies hosted by Tel Aviv University. ESTH Officer Paul Rohrlich delivered a brief keynote asking the energetic graduate researchers to contribute to science in this critical field by always asking new questions, even as they find answers to existing problems.

Nautilus Explores Israeli Seabed

Video Conference on Environmental Education to commemorate Earth Day 2008
On April 15, The Environment, Science and Technology and Health Office in cooperation with Public affairs Office, American Embassy in Tel Aviv hosted five Israeli panelists and a diverse local audience of environmental educators for an online dialogue on environmental education with guest speaker Deborah A. Sliter, Vice President Programs, National Environmental Education Foundation, Washington, D.C. The video conference was timed to coincide with the National Environmental Education Week (EE Week) the week before Earth Day (April 22) 2008.

“Sister Institution” Agreement Signed between the Sheba Medical Center and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center
On February 1, 2010 two of the world’s leading oncology research and treatment centers, the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv, signed a pioneering “Sister Institution Relationship” agreement for broad-scale cooperation in training, treatment and research.

NASA Chief Visits Israel; Joint Agreement Signed
On January 27 a joint agreement was signed making Israel a member of the NASA Lunar Science Institute. he agreement, signed by visiting Administrator of the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration Charles F. Bolden and Zvi Kaplan, Director of the Israel Space Agency, will enhance cooperation between the two agencies.

December 18: Ambassador Cunningham, along with Israeli Environment Minister Gideon Ezra, presented the Ford Conservation and Environmental Grants at a ceremony held at Delek Motors outside Tel Aviv.
They were assisted by Ford Israel Marketing and Sales Manager Noah Miller, SHELI Foundation representative Dan Perry, and CEO of Delek Motors Gil Agmon.
